Earlier this year Daniel and I had a two week holiday in NYC. It was the first time we go on holiday overseas together so it was pretty exciting!!!
We arrived in NY late afternoon. Finding a hotel was a bit of a challenge, then we both looked absolutely knackered like a photo below:p Anyways we had a nice Korean meal that night with my friend and her husband.

2013-05-05 17.28.58 0058 New York  I think it was a following day when we went to Chelsea market to have a jumbo lobster lol Gosh that little (?) guy was so huge! it was enough for three of us to share and feel very full. I couldn’t believe how fresh and cheap they were. We went back there another time with her husband as well. Nom nom nom:)

We were pretty hungry after hours of shopping in Soho. This restaurant was a little hidden in the alley ways and full of antique style furniture. Service was good and food was divine:)

Such a shame the weather wasn’t that great. Walking around central park was nice though my legs kind of gave up after about 2/3 of it >.< We saw so many squirrels, not afraid of human lol So nice to have a park like that in the middle of the city:) 2013-05-07 19.48.21 0207 New York A view from Rockefeller building. We went up there after dinner just in time for sunset. C’est juste belle!  2013-05-08 11.15.25 0245 New York Burger that didn’t live up to the expectation…everyone (well on the internet) said you must try this burger in NYC! well you were wrong. It was small, salty and average according to Daniel 🙁 We can say we tried though please..there are so much better foods in New York. 2013-05-10 19.12.41 0377 New York 2013-05-14 19.38.39 0623 New York

Beautiful modern Korean food in NYC.

It was purely random searching for any Korean restaurant nearby our accommodation.

It was literally 5-10mins walk from us and food was great!

Sashimi, braised fish, Bulgogi sliders, Korean fried chicken, tofu and raw beef tartar…Yummy :p

We also had a ginseng infused soju as well, which was surprisingly nice sweet taste.

I love having small tapas dishes so that you can try different flavours without getting stuffed!!

NYC has some great restaurants and bistro.

mmm…really want to go back there:)

Sunday Tapas at Lamont’s

_MG_0212    _MG_0225 _MG_0228_MG_0235 Every First Sunday of the month is Sunday tapas day at the Lamont’s in Cottesloe.

Although I haven’t been there for a few months now since I stopped drinking wine, food is pretty good there and staff are very attentive to my food allergies.

Photos above were tapas menu of that day though I got different dishes since I don’t eat red meat and food with gluten in it.

From my memory, it was…. black olive tapanade on baguette, chimichuri chicken on mashed potato, osso bucco and almond cake with cherry compote.

I hope I make to Sunday tapas again soon! Je adore ce restaurante!

Pecking duck

2013-01-16 17.57.44Pecking duck is not easy to make at home. Well I haven’t done it to be honest, but recipe seems way too long and hard to get it right.

This crisp duck breast is store bought and still yummy. You just need to drain all duck fat pretty well otherwise quite greasy >.<

Fresh veggies to go with are a must like zingy home-made pickles and sweet tomatoes.

Dinner served:)

Oven roasted chicken

2013-02-27 18.04.40Huge chicken maylands from Coles.

I marinated in mixed spices including paprika, chilli powder, morrocan spice, garlic and olive oil for 30mins to one hour before putting into the oven.

Veggies go in as well as chicken as you can see here like carrots, onions, potatoes, etc what ever you want:)

Garnish with basil and coriander before serve. Easy!!
