Dear NYC

time squareNY1One of my besties lives in NYC. She moved out to NY a few years back to become a physio and seek for a better lifestyle. The move to a foreign country must have been hard as I’ve done it 10 years ago and I totally understand what she has been going through. Well I would love to be with her as a companion when she needs me though NY is so far far far away from Australia. Thankfully she met a great guy who takes a good care of her and they are happily married. I visited her last May spring time over there and enjoyed wandering through the very heart of the city, enjoying some cheesy sightseeing, exploring little streets and devouring delicious foods. One of the things I miss most is, of course without doubt, New York bagels. You cannot beat fluffy dark pumpernickel bagel smothered with a thick generous amount of cream cheese accompanied by a black coffee. We accidentally found this awesome place called Zucker. If you happen to visit NYC, please check out this place. It is so ridiculously good. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I visit my dear friend and NYC again next year. So I’m making a open sandwich, great for breakfast or lunch. Easy to assemble though flavour combination works so well – pumpernickel, goat cheese, beetroot and balsamic. Delicious! This is how I treat myself to beat post-NYC blues 🙂 Please look for my previous post if you are wondering how to make bagels at home here.

We were just waking pass the flatiron building to get to “Eataly”, awesome Italian food market place. There was a food festival on.

stalls with a different kinds of food, wine stating, delicious chocolate, etc. I loved that atmosphere everyone is so cheerful and relaxed in the middle of the day.

We had a Korean Kimchi taco and red wine. There wasn’t much Kimchi in there though.

Ah this restaurant called “Prime and Beyond” is owned by Korean-American. I just purely searched a food ranking app on my phone to decide what to have for lunch.

Luckily it lived up to my expectation. We shared crab cakes for entree which had so much crab meat in side and flavoursome with Asian soy dressing.

I had a steak salad and Daniel a wet aged steak, which was so filling and juicy. Dessert..well we didn’t need after all that food though wanted to try their salted caramel cheese cake.

Two thumbs up for this place! We would love to go back there if we happen to go to NY again.

Lastly divine crape cake from Lady M, which was in the plaza hotel. I tried to make one myself at home though just not the same.

Looking through all photos..we ate so much! but seriously we just picked and chose to go these random places and turned out to be so impressive.

I love NYC 🙂

Earlier this year Daniel and I had a two week holiday in NYC. It was the first time we go on holiday overseas together so it was pretty exciting!!!
We arrived in NY late afternoon. Finding a hotel was a bit of a challenge, then we both looked absolutely knackered like a photo below:p Anyways we had a nice Korean meal that night with my friend and her husband.

2013-05-05 17.28.58 0058 New York  I think it was a following day when we went to Chelsea market to have a jumbo lobster lol Gosh that little (?) guy was so huge! it was enough for three of us to share and feel very full. I couldn’t believe how fresh and cheap they were. We went back there another time with her husband as well. Nom nom nom:)

We were pretty hungry after hours of shopping in Soho. This restaurant was a little hidden in the alley ways and full of antique style furniture. Service was good and food was divine:)

Such a shame the weather wasn’t that great. Walking around central park was nice though my legs kind of gave up after about 2/3 of it >.< We saw so many squirrels, not afraid of human lol So nice to have a park like that in the middle of the city:) 2013-05-07 19.48.21 0207 New York A view from Rockefeller building. We went up there after dinner just in time for sunset. C’est juste belle!  2013-05-08 11.15.25 0245 New York Burger that didn’t live up to the expectation…everyone (well on the internet) said you must try this burger in NYC! well you were wrong. It was small, salty and average according to Daniel 🙁 We can say we tried though please..there are so much better foods in New York. 2013-05-10 19.12.41 0377 New York 2013-05-14 19.38.39 0623 New York
